  • Safe Drive Stay Alive 2018 - Year 12 Trip

    Published 29/11/18

This is an annual event organised by the London Borough of Hillingdon Road Safety and School Travel Team (RSST) for all secondary schools within the Borough, as Year 12 students begin thinking about learning to drive.

The event was held at the Winston Churchill Theatre in Ruislip and our Year 12 students were joined by students from Swakeleys and Uxbridge High School.  It was a full house with approximately 300 students plus staff.

DJ Teddy hosted the event.  There were representatives from the Paramedics, Fire Brigade, and Metropolitan Police (who spoke about their experience of arriving at the scene of an accident) and the Road Safety Campaigner – George Atkinson, who talked about his traumatic experience of losing his daughter in a car accident whilst walking to a ballet class.  Martin, who was involved in a serious car accident which left him disabled through no fault of his own, also spoke about his experience and the serious implications it has had on his life.

Students took part in a competition of three questions for each school.  Congratulations to Swakeleys who were the winners on this occasion.

Students also watched a film, followed by a talk from each representative, giving a clear message of how distraction, speed, fatigue, drinking alcohol or taking drugs can lead to fatal accidents.  Not only can you face the dire consequences but the effect it has on others involved can leave you emotionally and psychologically scarred for a long time.

So THINK before you DRIVE.  Safeguard yourself and other road users including other drivers and pedestrians.

  • ‘I See You’ Group

    Mental Health Assembly

Our ‘I See You’ Group was set up this year to support those students who face mental health conditions. Nearly three quarter of mental health conditions emerge by the age of 24, so many young students are facing mental health concerns may not know where to go for support. We understand that some of the best support a student can receive is from peers. When students connect with each other, they can share experiences and support each other through transitions. ‘I See You’ helps make those connections.
